Wow! The last line of the sample text is where I thought I'd stop, at the end of part one, but then part two rolled out ahead of me so fluidly I could barely keep up. I stopped only to watch the U.S. Olympic gymnastic trials. :-) I won't have much time to write today, but if I keep hearing everyone's voices so vividly, I might get a fair amount drafted again. And then it's back to work tomorrow, sigh ...

Still recovering from RL, but this section backboned out so nicely that it wasn't too difficult to produce sentences for. First-drafty sentences, but sentences nevertheless. All that remains for part one of this piece is a four-beat action sequence which, surprisingly enough for me and action sequences, is crystal clear in my head. Which probably means that it won't want to become sentences at all ... [anticipatory headdesk]

Even rougher work: Wednesday the characters seemed to be going out of their way to embarrass me (waaangsting all over the place). The worst of that got itself corrected on Thursday morning, but then RL intervened and shot my concentration. I did housework and read Jane Lindskold's Thirteen Orphans instead. I did manage to get to the end of my outline, though, so today I'll try to backbone out the next section and hopefully get all of part 1 figured out. Part 2 switches viewpoint character, so I may want to let things rest for a bit before I leap into that.

Still productive, but very rough work this round. The inside of my viewpoint character's head is irritatingly difficult to capture properly. Nevertheless, onward -- I've got a page or so of outline left before I'll have to stop and backbone for a bit.

Much more productive today, phew. Will keep plugging away on this one, at least until I hit the end of my outline.

Sunday got eaten by the Legend of Korra finale at one end and church followed by dinner out at the other. Still, nulla dies sine linea, and today looks like being more productive.

So life happened for the past month and I got out of the habit of writing [hangs head in shame]. But now I have a week's worth of vacation days to use or lose before the turn of the fiscal year, so I'm taking a writer's holiday. In addition to the novel, which I fully intend to keep working on, I have stories burgeoning in five other fandoms, at least two of which are far enough along that they might see complete drafts in Real Words by the end of the month. Whee! So, back to the word counts:

Friday's Word Count:
933 (complete first draft of "Sketch: House of Eternity" for the House of Anubis fandom, which is sadly neglected by adult authors. British boarding school hijinks, anyone?)
Sample Text:

Terribly overwritten, I know, but it's only a first draft; I'll kill the darlings later. Today I'm going to have at my Leviathan-verse short, I think ...
