Nina's face twisted with loathing. "You're insane," she said. "You want Fabian to risk his life while you sit there and play it safe -- "Even rougher work: Wednesday the characters seemed to be going out of their way to embarrass me (waaangsting all over the place). The worst of that got itself corrected on Thursday morning, but then RL intervened and shot my concentration. I did housework and read Jane Lindskold's Thirteen Orphans instead. I did manage to get to the end of my outline, though, so today I'll try to backbone out the next section and hopefully get all of part 1 figured out. Part 2 switches viewpoint character, so I may want to let things rest for a bit before I leap into that.
"And I presume you never belt up when you take the M5," Rufus sneered.
"Coward," she snapped back.
Rufus leaned forward. "I," he said, "have nothing to prove to you." He tapped the Sekhmet box with one finger. "Let me remind you that the alternative is even more unpleasant and its outcome certain.
