652 (first draft of an untitled novella in the "House of Anubis" fandom)Sample Text:
Rufus turned his head slightly aside and put on an indulgent expression for the benefit of any onlookers. He'd expected such a display of sentiment -- they were too young to resist the maudlin lure of clichĂ© -- but as it continued his boredom sublimated into annoyance. They were wasting time -- his time. The gods knew he could be patient; his parents had drilled forbearance into him from the moment they'd taken up Sarah's guardianship. Victor Rodenmaar has mishandled the Chosen One dreadfully, his father had said. She will be slow to trust you, ohne Zweifel, but if you are patient and kind, you will make a friend of her. And he'd been right, but when Rufus thought now of the hours he'd frittered away playing hide-and-seek or attending church fĂȘtes or walking in the garden during his all-too-brief wartime leaves ...Still recovering from RL, but this section backboned out so nicely that it wasn't too difficult to produce sentences for. First-drafty sentences, but sentences nevertheless. All that remains for part one of this piece is a four-beat action sequence which, surprisingly enough for me and action sequences, is crystal clear in my head. Which probably means that it won't want to become sentences at all ... [anticipatory headdesk]
What's wrong, Rufus? I thought you liked spending time with me ...
"Enough," he growled in an undervoice.
