Fanwriting: Woot! Woot!
Jun. 8th, 2009 06:14 amCongratulations to my f-list -- specifically
lyrangalia (first place, Divergence),
artemisrae (third place, "Everything I've Ever Had") and
cornerofmadness (members' choice, "A Better Fate") -- for taking three of four places in the Fullmetal Alchemist category at this year's UFO Awards! You guys rock!
Further congrats to
lyrangalia for her second place ribbon in the Dresden Files category, with "The Greatest of These". Wear 'em both proudly!
Go me for getting third in the TRC category, too.Confounded fanon shippers, ignoring all the really good stuff among the ATLA entries, grumble, mutter ... everybody go read "In Our Bedroom After the War", which should've gotten tagged, growl, gripe ...
Further congrats to
Go me for getting third in the TRC category, too.

Date: 2009-06-09 01:06 am (UTC)Huh. I couldn't remember when they finished last year, so I guess I was jumping the gun a bit. Ah, well.
And yeah, I noticed last year what particular ship seemed to dominate the AtLA section.
I suppose it's natural, given that fanfiction exists in part to give the reader what canon doesn't, but still! (Nothing against the winners, who seem to have reasonable control of their prose -- I just liked some other pieces better, both for greater fidelity to canon and for use of language. I'll just have to keep thinking of the oatmeal shortage.)

Date: 2009-06-09 04:13 am (UTC)Speaking of fic, I wasn't sure if you'd seen either (http://artemisrae.livejournal.com/86053.html) of these (http://artemisrae.livejournal.com/88742.html)?

Date: 2009-06-09 12:29 pm (UTC)Huh. I do remember feeling a bit rushed to get my votes in before the not-very-clearly-advertised deadline this year.
Speaking of fic, I wasn't sure if you'd seen either of these?
[hangs head in shame] Yes, I had, and I've been meaning to get around to commenting on them for weeks now. No excuse for not doing so, really -- I've just been in a posting slump. Will have something to say ASAP!</small.

*quivers*
That would certainly do it.

Date: 2009-06-11 12:17 am (UTC)Mind you, I probably should have guessed. This is the same person who gave me a box of diet chocolates sweetened with sorbitol and neglected to mention sorbitol's clinical use.
