Congratulations to my f-list -- specifically [livejournal.com profile] lyrangalia (first place, Divergence), [livejournal.com profile] artemisrae (third place, "Everything I've Ever Had") and [livejournal.com profile] cornerofmadness (members' choice, "A Better Fate") -- for taking three of four places in the Fullmetal Alchemist category at this year's UFO Awards! You guys rock!

Further congrats to [livejournal.com profile] lyrangalia for her second place ribbon in the Dresden Files category, with "The Greatest of These". Wear 'em both proudly!

Go me for getting third in the TRC category, too. Confounded fanon shippers, ignoring all the really good stuff among the ATLA entries, grumble, mutter ... everybody go read "In Our Bedroom After the War", which should've gotten tagged, growl, gripe ...

TRC wasn't as tough a category this year as FMA and ATLA were, that's for sure. I had a dickens of a time figuring out how to allocate my own votes.

Thank you! And congrats on the Tsubasa win! (Boo to fanon shippers, just on principal ;))

I was wondering why it was taking so long, too. Being more greedy for fame than you, I was checking daily ... :-)

Oh hey, congrats! I was honestly surprised to see it this early - last year they didn't finish it up until August.

And yeah, I noticed last year what particular ship seemed to dominate the AtLA section.

Huh. I couldn't remember when they finished last year, so I guess I was jumping the gun a bit. Ah, well.

I suppose it's natural, given that fanfiction exists in part to give the reader what canon doesn't, but still! (Nothing against the winners, who seem to have reasonable control of their prose -- I just liked some other pieces better, both for greater fidelity to canon and for use of language. I'll just have to keep thinking of the oatmeal shortage.)

Well once you said that, I actually went back into my email and checked - they announced the results at the end of August last year, but they didn't even open VOTING until the beginning of May. Looks like everything got pushed up this year.

Speaking of fic, I wasn't sure if you'd seen either (http://artemisrae.livejournal.com/86053.html) of these (http://artemisrae.livejournal.com/88742.html)?

Thank you! (Hey, somebody shipped me one of your dreams last night by mistake, I think. It was an A-Team plot that involved, among other things, jacking small Cape houses up on wheels and turning them into assault vehicles.)

Huh. I do remember feeling a bit rushed to get my votes in before the not-very-clearly-advertised deadline this year.

Speaking of fic, I wasn't sure if you'd seen either of these?

[hangs head in shame] Yes, I had, and I've been meaning to get around to commenting on them for weeks now. No excuse for not doing so, really -- I've just been in a posting slump. Will have something to say ASAP!</small.

Please retain this becoming modesty when your original writing makes you famous. It will confuse people completely. :-)

hahaha, not a problem. I'm half senile or something. Seriously at [livejournal.com profile] fma_fic_contest I sometimes click on my own story when I'm deciding on the vote because I've totally forgotten my own title and it's only been a few days... I think i just plain write too much

Why, yes, that would be one of my dreams. *nod nod nod* Except there needs to be a vampire or ghost in it, too (probably discovered by the house being jacked up and moved away from the basement).

Would a unicorn count? Kid you not -- toward the end, Michael Gambon's Dumbledore showed up to confound the villain-in-chief with a unicorn. I swear, all I had before bed was a glass of iced tea.

Yes. That definitely qualifies as a SJS-style dream. *nod nod nod*

What KIND of ice tea, though?

...diet ice tea?

That would certainly do it.

Hey, it was a gift! How was I supposed to know?

Mind you, I probably should have guessed. This is the same person who gave me a box of diet chocolates sweetened with sorbitol and neglected to mention sorbitol's clinical use.

I'm having another glass of the tea this evening. (I can stop any time I want, but probably won't until I run out the jug.) Let's see what that does for my subconscious ...

I have my lovely sun tea, brewed in a glass jar in my yard while I was at work, with sugar, and black tea mixed with white tea, flavored with peach and mango. Yummy.

Mmm, sounds good (though sun tea kind of weirds me out since I heard about the bacteria problem). I just picked up some of my favorite kind of tea in the world (http://shopstashtea.com/030460.html) at the local strawberry festival: I love strong tea, and this is strong enough to lift a safe and soooo delicious. [wipes drool from keyboard]

I plan on picking some raspberry leaves off the plants at Mom's house and cleaning them (and some berries) for making tea later this year....

Stash has some lovely teas, I'll agree.
