Finally, an answer to the question, "What if J.K. Rowling had grown up in Bentonville, Arkansas?"

Okay, that's one scary Dark Mark. :-) Sniggled from [livejournal.com profile] nateprentice, to whom I now owe ... so much.

[grin] Glad to have brought some amazement into your existence.

Snortle. An object lesson on the necessity of context in the interpretation of utterance. (My Japanese class last night nearly broke down over whether questions about the location of a ball in relation to a box were to be answered from the box's point of view or our own. It's that time of the semester.)

A warning take by this: watch Airplane too many times and your creative imagination will be damaged for life. :-)

Airplane is a great movie, though!

Oh, truly. But like all good things, dangerous ...

Perhaps we have differing views of 'dangerous'. (Remembers being the only straight girl in a mob of gay men and three lesbians, the husband and the roommate; and one of the lesbians saying, "I can hardly wait to see this movie. I hear there's an impressive rack shot in it.")

Excuse me while I pick myself up off the floor ... ah, now then: my definition of "dangerous" is anything that inspires people to produce works of art that put me in peril of falling out of my chair laughing. Don't you realize it's a whole three feet to the floor and that there's calf dust down there?

*snort*

Yeah, my dangerous usually involves heavy bruising and/or bloodshed. You know, like shopping the day after Thanksgiving. ;)

Well, that explains a lot about Marking Time. They do say, "Write what you know." :-)

No, no, don't die! How will we cope, never knowing how Divergence ends? (You have named a literary executor and left lots of notes, right?)

She was threatening to give it to me a couple of weeks ago but Dana pointed out if she did, Lyra would have to take over M.T. That quelled that thought.

Whoever coined the phrase "Fair exchange is no robbery" didn't have M.T. in mind. If Div is an enterprising reporter tracking down a human interest story for the Sunday edition, M.T. is the panhandler waiting around the corner with a sob story on its lips and a cosh concealed in its jacket. :-)

M.T. fondles the cash and leaves the body, chuckling cheerfully.

Except in those chapters where ... no, no, not going there.

And readers keep wandering down those mean streets, lured by the Siren song of the night, only to wake up the next morning with a headache and an inexplicable desire for anything but spaghetti for breakfast.
