Dear LJ User, will you read my 'fic?
It took me days to write; here's the link to click.
It's based on a manga or an anime
That I really liked, 'cause I want to be a fanfiction writer,
Fanfiction writer.

It's a touching story of a love so true
My beta cried reading it and so will you.
They kiss in the rain and someone almost dies,
But I won't say who -- you can find out on Fanfiction-dot-net,
Fanfiction-dot-net.

I've reached chapter twenty but it's still not done;
I'll be posting more 'cause it's so much fun.
I can make it even better if you R'n'R --
But don't flame me, please: I'm a brand-new fanfiction writer,
Fanfiction writer.

Someday I'll move on and write my own sci-fi.
(They say that CLAMP did it, so then why can't I?)
I'll be a famous author with a huge fan base
Who won't let me forget that I started as a fanfiction writer,
Fanfiction writer.

I doubt I'm the only one who's ever thought of (mis)using "Paperback Writer" thus, but this came to me all in a moment (okay, over the course of an hour) after hearing the song used as transition music in an old episode of Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me!. So this is Douglas Berman's fault. (And that's my story and I'm sticking to it.)

*DIES LAUGHING*

You know, every time I hear this song, I think of doing something like this. Wheeeee, now I can use your words.

I knew great minds think alike. :-) I love filking. I love the looks I get from people when I do it right. (I wish, though, that I had the facility of a doctor friend who can filk on the fly in three different languages. When he gets going, jaws drop on everyone within earshot. That's talent.)

...or is it "soft minds run together"?

Now that would be impressive. *grin* I used to filk Doctor Who songs to the Beach Boys and the Monkees, back when I was in college. I think I still have the zines they were pubbed in, believe it or not.

The only remaining copies, I trust? Leaving such things out in the wild can only lead to blackmail ...

*SNORT* Hey, what's worse is the published fanfic and my name on various zines. Trust me (*buffs nails - supposedly, though, I did have a minor following for my Mary Sue Whovian novellas...at least, that's what the editor told me*).
