In weather news: it's still hot here. Really hot. Like two successive days in the triple digits with dewpoints above 70 hot. Bleah. This is not the time for the new pastor at my church to decide we don't need to move services out of the 1880s vintage church (with accompanying lack of air conditioning) into the 1970s vintage hall for the summer. He may be in touch with his inner camel, but the rest of us aren't so lucky.

In other news, however ... THE FIRST LEGEND OF KORRA TRAILER IS UTTERLY AMAZING EVEN ON MY SLOW INTERNET CONNECTION:

You rock, Messrs. Konietzko & DiMartino & All. If the storytelling lives up to the images,* you'll have another megahit on your hands.

*Including this one of Korra and her "Krew" -- brothers Mako (a firebender) and Bolin (an earthbender). Squee. If there is to be shipping, I'm already Team Bolin -- personally, I prefer short, stocky and (per reported Word of God) a bit goofy to tall, dark and brooding. Also, Tenzin is married and has three airbender children -- whee cute little airbenders! Also also, Toph's daughter is the local sheriff. Yay! And you've already seen the polar bear dog, right?

GIANT DOG-BEAR-THING IS MADE OF AWESOME. (Have you see the art book for the original series? The dog-bear-thing was part of the original concept sketch of Aang; I'm so pleased to see it come back.) I'm sure my friend kanja_177 will want a plushie, and this time I'm getting one right when it comes out. I missed my chance to get her giant plush Appa before they became collectible. Dagnabit.

At least your family has the good taste to enjoy Looney Tunes. It's a start, right?

Snort. I must admit that imagination mildly fails me with respect to Toph's SO. I mean, he'd have to be able to stand up to her, which lets out about nine tenths of the entire world -- male, female, or platypus bear. Part of me wants to pair her off with someone like Sig from FMA and the other part wants to pair her off with someone like Sokka, whom she can outfight and sometimes outsnark, but never outwit on his own ground. Hmm ...
