At last, the long nightmare of my return to the groves of Academe has ended and I wake to find an entire summer free of language study before me. (All right, free of formal language study -- must keep the skills up informally or next fall's opening day of class is going to hurt.) I spent the commute home making notes for the tricky central dialogue section of "Und Wenn Sie Nicht Gestorben Sind" (the Princess Tutu short that's going to get me hounded off the Internet) and resolving to drag the draft material for "The Weight of the Paper" (my FMA anniversary 'fic, returning Sheska to near-center stage and taking Falman for narrator) with me to the beach this weekend and give that some attention. "So a Cat Walks Into a Bar" is currently fermenting nicely on the hard drive along with "The Machine Unmakes the Man" (both Tutu 'fics); "The Taste of Power," a character sketch of FMA's Kimbley (of all people -- I'm not I can represent his POV properly, eek), is trying to jump the queue ahead of the eternally-in-progress "Errands of the Eye," but by golly I refuse to leave Winry and Paninya mouldering in that cinema-theater any longer. If I don't manage to do anything else this summer, I'm going to finish that piece. (And then I can write "Ed and Winry have a snowball fight" for Christmas.)

Oh, I'm full of plans, me. Now let's see if I can muster up the discipline to carry them out ...
