Once out from under the Travelers-sized umbrella that is SF fandom, my hobbies don't tend to overlap. So it was with some bemusement yesterday evening that I stopped twiddling my thumbs waiting for American gymnast Shawn Johnson to take her turn vaulting and perked up my ears instead. Familiar music was playing in the background -- one of Kajiura Yuki's themes from the Tsubasa anime. I presume it accompanied somebody's floor exercise; unfortunately, I haven't been able to identify whose it was (the logical suspect, the Japanese gymnast on floor during that rotation, wasn't up at the time). But I'm keeping an eye on this discussion, just in case.

So now I get to use my "anime" and "sports" tags on the same entry. I'm just sleep-deprived enough that it seems like some kind of victory.

ETA: Some collaborative work here (in which I participated, logic-puzzle style) determines the gymnast using Kajiura's music to be Ariella Käslin of Switzerland. Score! Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] fmanalyst for pointing me at the discussion.
