Apr. 16th, 2007 11:25 amFound this morning a ms. note in pencil on the front free endpaper of a very much knocked-about copy of The Roman Actor (1629) by Philip Massinger:
Imperfect and poor -- my own dear sister did it up in this way. I taught her bookbinding and she rapidly excelled her master in this as in many things else --Awww. That's so sweet. (No, really: "imperfect and poor" refers to the state of the bookblock, not the binding itself.)
