On the walk to work this morning I watched a flock of pigeons scatter into the sky, including one extremely well-fed -- wait, is that a seagull? -- no, by golly, it's a hawk! A healthy specimen, too: built like a linebacker. Evidently he wasn't too hungry for pigeon (or human) because he let the flock go, swooped over my head, and settled atop a piece of campus abstract sculpture, master of all he surveyed. Most abstract sculpture is improved by the addition of a roosting hawk, I think.
